About Me
Counselling
I am a BACP accredited counsellor and have been working in private
practice for the past 15 years, offering counselling to individuals,
couples, groups and organisations.
My background is in workplace counselling where I specialised in helping
employees, using short term counselling for issues such as relationships
with colleagues and managers, bullying & harassment, career development,
work stress etc. I also have experience in the voluntary sector where I
have worked extensively with charities and volunteers.
My orientation is integrative, which means I have studied different
counselling approaches and theories. My specialisms include cognitive
behavioural therapy, (CBT) person centred counselling and brief solution
focused work. I have experience of working with a short number of
sessions and working open ended over a longer period of time. I offer my
clients warmth, listening, understanding and supportive coping
strategies.
Code of Ethics and Confidentiality
As an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling
and Psychotherapy, I abide by their ethical framework and complaints
procedures.
Strict confidentiality is always maintained and is an essential part of
the counselling process. Therefore, all personal information which
emerges in the counselling sessions is confidential, with the exception
of where there may be risk of harm to self or others. This will be
explained to you at the first session.
I also carry full professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Supervision for Individuals and Groups
I have been providing clinical supervision for the past 9 years to
individuals and groups and hold a Diploma in Clinical Supervision &
Consultancy. My experience is in the corporate and charity sectors and
primary care focusing on employee assistance programmes and short term
counselling. I also provide group supervision for charities, such as
Turning Point, Rape Crisis, Urban Access etc. Supervisees normally
contract for fortnightly or monthly sessions. Telephone and email
supervision can also be provided.
